Why We Don’t Use Influencers to Review Our Wheels

In the era of social media, it’s common to see "famous" YouTubers and influencers unboxing gear and offering glowing endorsements. You might notice that our wheels are missing from those feeds. That isn’t an accident—it’s a choice.

We’ve made a conscious decision not to engage in paid "reviews" or send free gear to influencers. Here is why:

1. Expertise Can’t Be Replicated

A wheelset isn’t just a product; it’s a piece of engineering. To truly review a wheel, you need to understand the tension of the spokes, the geometry of the hub, and the nuances of the build process. Most influencers are entertainers or content creators, not wheel builders.

If you don’t understand the "how" behind the assembly, you cannot accurately judge the "why" behind the performance. We believe the only people qualified to judge our work are the people who ride them every day and the craftsmen who know what makes a wheel stay true under pressure.

2. We Value Honesty Over "Agendas"

Let’s be honest: when someone receives a $2,000 wheelset for free or is paid to feature a product, there is an unspoken agenda. It is very difficult to be critical of something that was given to you as a gift.

We don't want "polite" reviews; we want honest ones. We don't pay for praise because we believe that trust shouldn't have a price tag.

I have been a brand snob for wheels, always Enves with Chris Kings....went over to look for Andy here as i was interested to explore old school goodness of the White Industries hubs. In the end, i went with their own Wheel Angel hub instead as i can sense that Andy is a prick at quality (which is good for us!) and he will want the best for his own Wheel Angel parts. Super fast service in building the wheels, great time chatting with them and of course, the hubs did not disappoint on my first ride, coupled with the great wheels for my gravel bike and skillful build by Andy. No more Enves for me from now on!
