DT SWISS hubs are engineered around their patented Star Ratchet and Ratchet EXP freehub mechanisms. Unlike traditional pawl systems, these designs utilize two interlocking, spring-loaded ratchet rings for simultaneous, full-surface engagement. This architecture ensures superior load distribution and torque transmission, resulting in exceptional reliability and a distinct sound. Hub shells are typically CNC-machined from forged aluminum alloys with optimized flange geometry to improve spoke bracing angles and lateral wheel stiffness. The product line ranges from the robust 350 series to the flagship 180, which integrates SINC ceramic bearings to minimize frictional losses and rotational mass.
